02:00 - 02:45 PM | Rethinking Information Literacy: Teaching and learning tools & techniques along with ethical and legal issues. | Dr. Ramesh C Gaur, Professor & Dean Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA) | A good, relevant, and quality collection has always been the main objective of each and every Library. However,... it is also important that your users should be well aware of various types of relevant collections available in your library and also how to reach out to it and access it. Anywhere anytime has become a key in the present context especially to cope up with the current pandemic. Dr. S R Ranganathan’s five laws most appropriately justify this philosophy connecting the trinity of Library Users, Collections, and Library Staff. Hence Library orientation, user education, information literacy are some of the most important tools to achieve the above objectives. Definition, needs, and types of Information Literacy have been constantly changing as per changes in the Libraries over the years. So it is important for libraries and librarians to rethink, redesign and recreate various types of information literacy programmes to fulfill the current information needs of their clientele. Information literacy as of now has many forms and types such as E-Research Literacy, Data Literacy, Digital Literacy, Health Literacy Ethics Literacy, and Legal Literacy, etc. In the presentation, various types of information literacies will be highlighted, with their need, importance, various ways of imparting, and usefulness in the current context. I will also present various types of teaching and learning tools as an essential part of Information Literacy. |
