The Information Technology has an opening for the position of IT Systems Engineer, Libraries , above grade 12.  Since this provides an opportunity for promotion from within, please circulate this information and/or post it in your area of jurisdiction so that those interested and having the minimum qualifications may apply not later than November 16, 2017.

 
I. Basic Functions:
IT Systems Engineer, Libraries is responsible for supporting and maintaining the Libraries’ servers and computer systems. Responsibilities include assisting in performing a variety of tasks involved with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, configuration and backup of servers and applications, as well as dealing with unexpected problems that arise on a daily basis, making sure the Libraries’ systems are up and running in a smooth and error free environment. Scripting and light programming are another requirement to automate certain tasks and troubleshoot some applications. In addition, the IT Systems Engineer, Libraries works closely with Library and IT professional and technical staff. Supports the mission and vision of the IT Department, the University Libraries and those of the University.
 
II. Minimum Requirements:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  2. At least 5 years of full-time work experience, preferably in an academic institution.
  3. Certification: Red Hat Certified System Administrator is a plus
  4. Demonstrated experience in the administration of Linux systems
  5. Demonstrated experience in the installation and configuration of open-source software
  6. Knowledge in Windows servers
  7. Familiar with Active Directory and LDAP
  8. Working knowledge in the installation, configuration and administration of high availability and clustering.
  9. Good knowledge of Distributed file system, File Shares, enterprise printing and enterprise backup
  10. Very good knowledge of Arabic and English
  11. Familiar with different types of hypervisor technology (VMware, Hyper-V)
  12. Familiar with change, release and problem management concepts
  13. Familiar in any programming languages and good in scripting skills
  14. Strong communication and analytical skills, and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  15. Demonstrated the following critical competencies: Accountability, Client Focus, Communication Skills, Computer Skills, English Comprehension, Information & Document Administration, Initiative, Organizational Awareness, Planning and Organizing, Problem Solving, Professional Development, Technical Expertise
